How to Build Links and Boost The Rankings of Your Product Pages

reliablesoft.net
Hi there,

It's been almost a week since you registered to my newsletter and I really appreciate it.

Upon registration, I have sent you a link to download a FREE ebook: The Most Effective Methods to Drive Traffic to Your Website.

I hope that it gave you a pretty good idea on how to drive quality long lasting traffic to your website or blog. In case you missed it, here is the link again.

Today, I want to share with you a really clever SEO tip on how you can increase the rankings of your ecommerce pages (if you have an online store), or your services pages.

Let's get started.

We all know that links are important for rankings right?

When it comes to product pages (ecommerce pages) or pages promoting a particular service, it's difficult to build backlinks because nobody wants to link to a page that is selling a product or promoting a service.

So, what can you do? How can you increase the rankings of the most important pages of your website?

Here is a nice tip for you:

Decide which product (or services) pages you want to improve their rankings.

Create stunning blog posts (with content that is strongly related to the page you want to promote) and publish them on your blog (if you don't have a blog yet, it's time to create one now).

Make sure that your blog is part of your domain i.e. example.com/blog and NOT in a subdomain i.e. blog.example.com or different domain.

Promote your blog posts and try to get as many backlinks as possible. There are many effective ways to do that (more on this below).

Repeat the above process until you have a number of blog posts published with links (both internal and external), pointing to them.

I'm sure that so far this is something you have read before, but this is NOT the end of the story.

What you should do next is the following:

Update your product (or services ) pages and enrich them with information that is similar to what you have in the blog posts. In other words, the content on your blog post and the content of the product page should be a close match.

Next, add a CANONICAL tag to the blog posts pages and point the URL to your product pages.

What will happen is that any links and PageRank acquired by your blog posts will be transferred to your product pages and guest what this means? Gradually their rankings will increase!

Of course, the blog posts will no longer rank (because of the canonical tag) but the most important pages of your website, will achieve better rankings.

Pretty cool, isn't it?
